Together, we expand educational horizons and open doors to meaningful career opportunities. Lifetrack works with people with disabilities, immigrants and refugees, and people experiencing poverty to launch and develop careers.
Minnesota has some of the highest disparities in unemployment and poverty rates in the nation. Through career exploration, training, placement, and coaching, Lifetrack helps reduce these disparities. We help people develop the skills and knowledge to overcome barriers, find meaningful work, and move from poverty to self-sufficiency.
Nationally, job placement and retention rates for Lifetrack programs rank in the top 15% as compared to other community-based employment service agencies, as determined by the National Benchmarking Project.
Lifetrack’s Employment Services model relies on five key elements that include providing: mentoring supports to build resiliency and confidence, financial skill development, interval job retention supports, motivational interviewing and work-life balance supports. All of these elements are interwoven into the services provided in these programs, which include:
- Job Training: Development of hard skills and acquisition of relevant credentials needed for success in high-demand, good-paying careers. We work closely with area employers to ensure our participants are prepared to meet their needs.
- Employment Services: Development of soft skills such as job searching, interviewing, resume-building and related activities needed for finding jobs, as well as one-on-one post-employment supports needed for retaining jobs.
- Educational Advancement: Linkage to continuing education programs for High School Diplomas/GED, ESL, and other academic supports
- Financial Literacy Education: Group and one-on-one instruction in working with the building blocks of financial security – setting up bank accounts, getting good credit, building savings and working toward financial goals.
Individual Placement and Support for People with Mental Illnesses
This program serves individuals with Mental Illness (MI) or Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and provides ongoing services to help them find and retain appropriate employment.
Community Employment for People with Disabilities
The goal of these innovative programs is to help hard-to-employ individuals find and retain good jobs. This includes individuals with physical, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, whose employment opportunities in the workforce have been limited but who are eager to find jobs in the community.
Services for Low-Income Families
Lifetrack offers employment services to individuals who receive Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) assistance from the state of Minnesota. By coaching and mentoring low-income individuals Lifetrack is able to reduce barriers to employment, help individuals learn pre-employment skills that secure stable employment opportunities. Participants receive job search assistance, skills training, and case management. Lifetrack offers a job search center and job fairs with local employers, as well.
Dislocated Worker Program
Lifetrack's Dislocated Worker Program works to help individuals in Olmstead County, and Hennepin County who have been laid off or are long-term unemployed. Participants receive help with resume development, interviewing skills, networking practice, as well as job training and coaching by employment placement professionals.
Pathways to Prosperity Program
Lifetrack's Pathways to Prosperity program goal is to place people in high-paying jobs in in-demand occupations. We currently offer two Pathways programs – Commercial Trucking, which trains individuals to work in the transportation field, and Construction, which teaches participants the skills needed to succeed in the building trades. Lifetrack partners with organizations that provide hard skill training and certifications while providing soft skill development and helping individuals find and retain jobs.
LIfeBalance Solutions provides helps organizations increase productivity by educating employees on ways to manage a healthy balance at work and at home. It offers customized seminar and webinar options to support employees at all stages of the lifespan by providing education on topics such as health and wellness, personal growth, workplace effectiveness, financial literacy, family/parenting education, and eldercare and aging. In 2017, LifeBalance Solutions provided 273 training sessions to 4,584 employees of 48 government agencies and private companies. Its online webinars and YouTube training videos had 21,412 views.

Lifetrack works as an intermediary between businesses and our employment participants. We can provide interviews with qualified, pre-screened candidates for free. In addition to these programs, Lifetrack's Employment Services team works with over 500 employers to help them find the right employees for the job and to ensure that prospective workers have the right training and supports to be successful on the job.
Minnesota Employment Center
Minnesota Employment Center (MEC) is a joint effort of Lifetrack, Rise, Inc., and Minnesota Vocational Rehabilitation Services. For 15 years, the MEC team has worked with clients who are deaf or hard of hearing to find the best job matches. MEC provides clients with free, on-the-job training in American Sign Language (ASL) and assists with finding job opportunities, resume and cover letter development, interviewing skills, job coaching, on-the-job support and more.
