Services for Low Income Families

Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP)

This includes our Minnesota Families in Poverty (MFIP) component, which focuses on reducing disparities among people of color, and our Immigrant and Refugee program, which provides culturally appropriate services to individuals adapting to life in the U.S.  Our employment staff, which speaks 15 languages, is very diverse: 39% identify as Black, 25% as Asian, 10% as American Indian, 16% as white, and 10% as Hispanic; 40% identify as a refugee or immigrant.  From 2014 to 2016 we served over 350 MFIP families. Our average job placement wage for those years combined was $11.88/hour. In 2016, we had 52% of our clients exit our program having attained family sufficiency through unsubsidized employment, surpassing our goal of 40% by 125%.  Our Immigrant and Refugee Program placed 146 individuals in jobs at an average wage of $10.71, with 67% retaining their jobs for 12 months.
